El Cristianismo es visto a nivel mundial como una religión; sin embargo, para todos los que conforman este grupo social en el mundo entero, este significado queda relegado por la frase: "El Cristianismo es un estilo de vida".
Christianity is seen worldwide as a religion; however, for all those who make up this social group throughout the world, this meaning is set aside by the phrase: "Christianity is a lifestyle."
Este curso está orientado a cultivar valores referentes a este estilo de vida que representa el cristianismo, y se podrá estudiar cómo vivir la vida cristiana en muchas áreas de nuestras vidas, a través de algunas reflexiones cristianas. Este tema va dirigido principalmente a las personas que recién comienzan la vida cristiana.
This course is oriented towards cultivating values regarding this lifestyle that Christianity represents, and it will be possible to study how to live the Christian life in many areas of our lives, through some Christian reflections. This topic is mainly addressed to people who are just beginning their Christian life.
Capítulo 1: Tips de oración / Chapter 1: Prayer Tips
El problema de creer no saber orar bien, y muchísimo menos en público, es un problema muy general; muchos cristianos lo tienen, eso pasa desde Venezuela hasta la China.
The problem of believing one does not know how to pray well, and even less so in public, is a very general problem; many Christians have it, it happens from Venezuela to China.
El problema de que la gente casi no ora en privado es un problema mundial también. La raíz de ese problema es que la gente, en la mayoría de los casos, tiene muchas dificultades para comunicarse y les cuesta comunicarse con los seres que les rodean: padres, hijos, cónyuges, familiares, vecinos y hasta amigos en algunos de los casos. Y como tenemos problemas internos de cómo manifestar lo que nos pasa a la gente que vemos, se nos hace más difícil poderlas expresar a alguien que no vemos, y más difícil se hace cuando las tratamos de hablar delante de otros, y más si ellos saben hacerlo muy bien.
The problem that people hardly pray in private is also a worldwide problem. The root of that problem is that people, in most cases, have many difficulties communicating and find it hard to communicate with those around them: parents, children, spouses, relatives, neighbors, and even friends in some cases. And since we have internal problems manifesting what happens to us to the people we see, it becomes harder to express them to someone we don't see, and it becomes even harder when we try to speak them in front of others, especially if they know how to do it very well.
El problema de no querer orar en público: habemos muchas personas a las que nos cuesta hablar en público, así sea nada más para decir "buenos días"; nos cuesta hablar para expresar ideas en público, nos cuesta decir muchas cosas, y por ello es que nos cuesta orar en público, porque para orar en público (HAY QUE EXPRESAR NUESTRAS IDEAS EN PÚBLICO) y el verdadero temor detrás de orar en público es que tenemos miedo a que juzguen nuestras ideas en público.
The problem of not wanting to pray in public: there are many of us who find it hard to speak in public, even if it is just to say "good morning"; we find it hard to speak to express ideas in public, we find it hard to say many things, and that is why we find it hard to pray in public, because to pray in public (ONE MUST EXPRESS THEIR IDEAS IN PUBLIC) and the true fear behind praying in public is that we are afraid they will judge our ideas in public.
El asunto de orar bien: Todos tenemos la capacidad de orar bien, porque orar simplemente es hablar con Dios, y para orar, solo hay que ser personas con un corazón sincero. ¿TÚ ERES UNA PERSONA DE CORAZÓN SINCERO? ¿Tú lo crees? ¡Yo también!
The matter of praying well: We all have the capacity to pray well, because praying is simply talking to God, and to pray, one only has to be a person with a sincere heart. ARE YOU A PERSON WITH A SINCERE HEART? Do you believe it? I do too!
Así que simplemente sé natural, sé tú misma; a la hora de hablar solo abre tu corazón y expresa lo que quieres y deseas con el corazón abierto; así es que llegan las oraciones al trono celestial. Hay gente que ora muy bonito aparentemente, pero sus oraciones son fingidas, imitando a alguien, repitiendo palabras que no tienen sentido para él, por apariencia, etc.
So simply be natural, be yourself; when it's time to speak, just open your heart and express what you want and desire with an open heart; that is how prayers reach the celestial throne. There are people who pray very beautifully apparently, but their prayers are feigned, imitating someone, repeating words that make no sense to them, for appearance, etc.
El aprender a orar en público y en privado es un proceso: No te preocupes por aprender de un solo golpe, ya que saber orar es un proceso muy lindo. Aprendes a orar a la medida que más lo haces: MIENTRAS MÁS oras en privado, más aprendes, y mientras más oras en público más pierdes el miedo a hacerlo; mientras más rápido te arriesgues, más rápido pierdes el temor de hacerlo.
Learning to pray in public and in private is a process: Don't worry about learning all at once, as knowing how to pray is a very beautiful process. You learn to pray as you do it more: THE MORE you pray in private, the more you learn, and the more you pray in public, the more you lose the fear of doing so; the faster you take the risk, the faster you lose the fear of doing it.
La oración es un acto de confianza: para orar simplemente hay que tener confianza en que Dios está escuchando; cuando creemos eso, entonces nos abrimos y sentimos que cada palabra que emiten nuestros labios está siendo recibida por el Padre celestial. Esa confianza tienes que irla creyendo tú misma; cada vez que ores, cree que estás hablando con Dios, que aunque no lo ves Él está allí, escuchando todo, y mientras más lo haces de corazón, alegras el corazón de Dios.
Prayer is an act of trust: to pray one simply has to have confidence that God is listening; when we believe that, then we open up and feel that every word our lips emit is being received by the Heavenly Father. You have to believe that confidence yourself; every time you pray, believe that you are talking to God, that although you don't see Him, He is there, listening to everything, and the more you do it from the heart, you gladden the heart of God.
Cuáles son los temas de oración: todos. Con Dios tenemos la libertad de orar por todas las cosas; Él es nuestro amigo, nuestro consolador, nuestra paz, nuestro proveedor, todo lo es el Señor para nosotros, eso nos permite poder hablar con Él de todo. Pero hay temas de oración que tocamos en privado y temas de oración que tocamos en público.
What are the topics of prayer: all of them. With God we have the freedom to pray for all things; He is our friend, our comforter, our peace, our provider, the Lord is everything to us, and that allows us to talk to Him about everything. But there are prayer topics that we touch on in private and prayer topics that we touch on in public.
Capítulo 2: Los frutos de la adversidad / Chapter 2: The Fruits of Adversity
La Biblia nos habla acerca de la insensatez o la sabiduría con la cual construimos nuestro futuro, pero nos advierte que en ese camino habrá adversidad.
The Bible tells us about the foolishness or the wisdom with which we build our future, but it warns us that on that path there will be adversity.
En una historia relatada en el Nuevo Testamento, nos presenta de manera ilustrada cómo dos hombres hicieron su morada e invirtieron en su futuro, cada cual a su manera, de acuerdo a sus puntos de vista, de acuerdo a su gusto, de acuerdo a su nivel de madurez; pero la diferencia entre ambos hombres no estaba basada en sí en cuanto a la construcción de la casa, sino estaba basada en cuanto a la base en donde estaba edificada la casa.
In a story related in the New Testament, it presents us in an illustrated way how two men made their dwelling and invested in their future, each in his own way, according to his points of view, according to his taste, according to his level of maturity; but the difference between both men was not based on the construction of the house itself, but was based on the foundation where the house was built.
La construcción de sus proyectos, metas y sueños en el Dios Altísimo fue lo que le ayudó a David a sobrevivir ante los ataques de los lobos, al ataque de los leones, al ataque de los osos, y en todos esos ataques él vio cómo Dios le fortaleció, le ayudó, le bendijo, lo socorrió, lo levantó en victoria; es por ello que el ataque de ese valiente paladín no frustró los sueños de David, ni sus metas, ni sus proyectos; esa adversidad sacó lo mejor de David.
The construction of his projects, goals, and dreams in the Most High God was what helped David survive the attacks of wolves, the attack of lions, the attack of bears, and in all those attacks he saw how God strengthened him, helped him, blessed him, succored him, raised him in victory; that is why the attack of that brave paladin did not frustrate David's dreams, nor his goals, nor his projects; that adversity brought out the best in David.
La adversidad creó de David un Rey; como nunca antes se levantó después de él otro rey sobre la casa de Israel, un Rey al que el pueblo amaba y se entregaba a lo que fuese por amor a Él. Un rey que movió la mano de Dios para socorrer a su pueblo, para perdonar muchas veces a la casa de Israel; tanto así que en la escritura se habla en muchos pasajes bíblicos cómo Dios hizo muchas cosas por amor a David su siervo, y no hay otro lugar en la Biblia que se hable de un hombre como se habló de David, un hombre conforme al corazón de Dios.
Adversity created a King out of David; like never before, another king rose after him over the house of Israel, a King whom the people loved and surrendered to whatever it was for love of Him. A king who moved the hand of God to succor His people, to forgive the house of Israel many times; so much so that in scripture, many biblical passages talk about how God did many things out of love for David His servant, and there is no other place in the Bible where a man is spoken of as David was spoken of, a man after God's own heart.
La compasión de David no le permitió sucumbir ante las amenazas intimidantes de aquel gigante; a él le conmovía ver al pueblo afligido por las amenazas, le conmovía ver que su pueblo era asediado por fuerzas enemigas. La adversidad sacó lo mejor de David ante ese paladín, ante los continuos ataques del Rey Saúl, ante los continuos ataques de los pueblos invasores contra Israel cuando él ya era rey, ante los continuos ataques de sus propios hijos, incluso su propio hijo Absalón le buscaba para matarle.
David's compassion did not allow him to succumb to the intimidating threats of that giant; he was moved to see the people afflicted by the threats, he was moved to see that his people were besieged by enemy forces. Adversity brought out the best in David before that paladin, before the continuous attacks of King Saul, before the continuous attacks of invading peoples against Israel when he was already king, before the continuous attacks of his own children, including his own son Absalom who sought to kill him.
La profundidad de las convicciones de David le hicieron tomar muchas veces decisiones claves: trabajó arduamente en procurar que su hijo construyese el Templo; aun a pocos momentos antes de morir estuvo dándole directrices a Salomón acerca de la construcción del Templo. No mató a Saúl, su enemigo, cuando lo tuvo enfrente, por su convicción de que era un ungido de Dios. Mandó a buscar a Mefiboset porque él sabía que había hecho un pacto con Jonatán, su padre, y él sabía la importancia de un pacto.
The depth of David's convictions made him take key decisions many times: he worked hard to ensure that his son would build the Temple; even a few moments before dying, he was giving Solomon directives about the construction of the Temple. He did not kill Saul, his enemy, when he had him in front of him, because of his conviction that he was an anointed one of God. He sent for Mephibosheth because he knew he had made a covenant with Jonathan, his father, and he knew the importance of a covenant.
La paciencia que David había adquirido mientras cuidaba a las ovejas de su padre le ayudó a mantenerse tranquilo en medio de la adversidad, a no desesperarse y confiar en que Dios tenía el control siempre.
The patience that David had acquired while caring for his father's sheep helped him stay calm in the midst of adversity, not to despair and to trust that God was always in control.
Capítulo 3: Es necesario que te quiten tu túnica / Chapter 3: It is Necessary for Your Tunic to be Taken
La Biblia nos relata dos historias bíblicas en donde ambos personajes son entregados por sus hermanos en las manos de sus enemigos. A ambos personajes les fueron quitadas sus túnicas preciadas. Ambos personajes terminaron salvando a sus hermanos: uno salvó a sus hermanos de morir de hambre, el otro salvó a sus hermanos de la muerte eterna. Estos personajes son José y Jesús.
The Bible tells us two biblical stories where both characters are delivered by their brothers into the hands of their enemies. Both characters had their precious tunics taken from them. Both characters ended up saving their brothers: one saved his brothers from dying of hunger, the other saved his brothers from eternal death. These characters are Joseph and Jesus.
En el caso de José: Israel amaba a José más que a todos sus hijos e hizo una túnica de diversos colores. Sus hermanos le aborrecían y, cuando llegó a ellos, le quitaron su túnica y lo echaron en una cisterna vacía (Génesis 37).
In the case of Joseph: Israel loved Joseph more than all his children and made him a tunic of many colors. His brothers hated him and, when he came to them, they stripped him of his tunic and threw him into an empty cistern (Genesis 37).
En el caso de Jesús: Los soldados tomaron sus vestidos e hicieron cuatro partes, pero sobre su túnica sin costura echaron suertes para no partirla, cumpliéndose la Escritura: "Repartieron entre sí mis vestidos, y sobre mis ropas echaron suertes" (San Juan 19:23-24; Salmos 22:18).
In the case of Jesus: The soldiers took His garments and made four parts, but over His seamless tunic they cast lots so as not to tear it, fulfilling the Scripture: "They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots" (John 19:23-24; Psalms 22:18).
Aplicación: Muchas veces Dios permite que aquello que más valoramos nos sea arrebatado de manera brusca o injusta. Esa túnica puede representar nuestra casa, nuestro trabajo, nuestras finanzas o nuestro honor. Sin embargo, a José le quitaron su túnica de hijo para darle, tras un proceso, un Traje de Gobernador. A Jesús le arrebataron su túnica terrenal para darle un cuerpo glorificado. Si es necesario que te quiten tu túnica, ten paz; Dios tiene cosas mejores y un traje especial preparado para ti.
Application: Many times God allows what we value most to be taken from us in a sudden or unfair way. That tunic can represent our house, our work, our finances, or our honor. However, Joseph’s tunic of a son was taken to give him, after a process, a Governor's Robe. Jesus' earthly tunic was taken from Him to give Him a glorified body. If it is necessary for your tunic to be taken, have peace; God has better things and a special robe prepared for you.
Capítulo 4: Un corazón adorador / Chapter 4: A Worshiping Heart
Tener un corazón adorador no es saberse todas las canciones cristianas ni ser un músico excelente; esos son dones y talentos. Tener un corazón adorador implica: poner el corazón en cada letra que se canta; vivir enamorado de Dios y de sus mandamientos; deleitarse en quién es Dios y estar agradecido; tener una sed insaciable por su palabra y su presencia; seguir adorándole cuando Dios nos da un "no", o cuando se tarda en responder; adorarlo siempre con nuestra boca, acciones y decisiones.
Having a worshiping heart is not knowing all the Christian songs or being an excellent musician; those are gifts and talents. Having a worshiping heart implies: putting your heart into every lyric that is sung; living in love with God and His commandments; delighting in who God is and being grateful; having an insatiable thirst for His word and His presence; continuing to worship Him when God gives us a "no," or when He is slow to respond; worshiping Him always with our mouths, actions, and decisions.
Capítulo 5: Contexto Histórico y la Samaritana / Chapter 5: Historical Context and the Samaritan Woman
Tras la división del Reino de Israel en Samaria (Norte) y Jerusalén (Sur), ambas ciudades se contaminaron con la idolatría. Jesús aquel día estaba determinado a demostrarle a la mujer samaritana que no importaba su pasado histórico ni su presente difícil de soledad y múltiples maridos. Jesús quería que ella comprendiera que necesitaba una transformación que saciara su sed espiritual. Se le reveló como Salvador y Enviado. Ella, al conocer la verdad, fue a anunciar las maravillas de Dios y muchos creyeron. ¡Es necesario que Jesús hoy pase por tu ciudad!
After the division of the Kingdom of Israel into Samaria (North) and Jerusalem (South), both cities became contaminated with idolatry. Jesus that day was determined to show the Samaritan woman that her historical past and her difficult present of loneliness and multiple husbands did not matter. Jesus wanted her to understand that she needed a transformation that would quench her spiritual thirst. He revealed Himself to her as Savior and Sent One. She, knowing the truth, went to announce the wonders of God and many believed. It is necessary for Jesus to pass through your city today!
Capítulo 6: En tu Nombre echaremos la Red / Chapter 6: In Your Name We Will Cast the Net
Dios ha prediseñado para cada etapa de nuestra existencia una palabra reveladora. Jesús dio órdenes que parecían fuera de lógica: pescar un pez con una moneda adentro, alimentar a miles con casi nada o lavarse en un estanque para recuperar la vista. Pedro, un pescador experto, estaba frustrado tras una noche de fracaso. Pero ante la orden de Jesús, respondió: "Toda la noche hemos estado trabajando y nada hemos pescado; ¡MAS EN TU PALABRA ECHARÉ LA RED!". El resultado fue una pesca milagrosa. Jesús te dice hoy: no importa cuánto tiempo creas haber malgastado, solo déjate dirigir.
God has pre-designed for each stage of our existence a revealing word. Jesus gave orders that seemed illogical: fishing for a fish with a coin inside, feeding thousands with almost nothing, or washing in a pond to regain sight. Peter, an expert fisherman, was frustrated after a night of failure. But at Jesus' command, he replied: "Master, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing; BUT AT YOUR WORD I WILL LET DOWN THE NET!". The result was a miraculous catch. Jesus tells you today: no matter how much time you think you have wasted, just let yourself be guided.
Capítulo 7: La Zarza tiene que arder en tu vida / Chapter 7: The Bush Must Burn in Your Life
Éxodo 3: 1-17: Moisés vio que la zarza ardía en fuego y no se consumía. Dios llamó su atención para revelarle Su plan. Moisés venía huyendo de Egipto tras defender a un hermano israelita, pero los suyos le miraron como enemigo. Es necesario que la zarza arda en tu vida para: escuchar la voz de Dios; hablar íntimamente a tu corazón y descubrir tu propósito (libertador); confrontar tus temores y complejos personales; mostrarte cómo lograr los anhelos de tu corazón a la manera poderosa de Dios; dejar de huir de tus enemigos y hacerles frente; descubrir cómo usar los dones, talentos y el ministerio; dejar de mirar tus dificultades y mirar de qué te ha dotado Dios.
Exodus 3: 1-17: Moses saw that the bush burned with fire and was not consumed. God called his attention to reveal His plan. Moses was fleeing Egypt after defending an Israelite brother, but his own people looked at him as an enemy. It is necessary for the bush to burn in your life to: hear the voice of God; speak intimately to your heart and discover your purpose (deliverer); confront your fears and personal complexes; show you how to achieve the desires of your heart in God's powerful way; stop running from your enemies and face them; discover how to use gifts, talents, and ministry; stop looking at your difficulties and look at what God has endowed you with.
Capítulo 8: La rebeldía en las iglesias / Chapter 8: Rebellion in the Churches
Las personas se dañan internamente por no honrar a sus hermanos y líderes. El dolor no sanado se vuelve una raíz de amargura. Personas con cargos importantes se vuelven orgullosas, llevan la contraria al pastor y generan chismes o bandos de oposición. Esto daña familias completas y descarria a los hijos. Estamos para edificarnos, no para competir. Si has vivido una experiencia así, perdona y sigue adelante. No te estanques. Cambia tu actitud y sirve de corazón sincero.
People damage themselves internally by not honoring their brothers and leaders. Unhealed pain becomes a root of bitterness. People with important positions become proud, contradict the pastor, and generate gossip or opposition groups. This damages entire families and leads children astray. We are here to build each other up, not to compete. If you have had an experience like this, forgive and move forward. Do not get stuck. Change your attitude and serve with a sincere heart.
Capítulo 9: No doy ni medio por tu ministerio / Chapter 9: I Don't Give a Cent for Your Ministry
Efesios 4 nos ruega andar con humildad y paciencia, manteniendo la unidad. Sin embargo, el ego divide la iglesia. Hay muchas maneras de demostrar desprecio hacia el llamado de un hermano: ignorar su llamado y no permitirle participar nunca; cerrar puertas por antipatía personal; criticar el esfuerzo ajeno para que sea desaprobado; no presentarte o mostrar indiferencia y fastidio en sus actividades; negarte a colaborar cuando te piden ayuda; ayudar solo para intentar lucirte tú y opacarlo. Reflexiona: incorpora a ese hermano, anímalo y enséñalo. Si restauras a un hermano, fortaleces el cuerpo de Cristo.
Ephesians 4 begs us to walk with humility and patience, maintaining unity. However, ego divides the church. There are many ways to show contempt for a brother's calling: ignoring his calling and never allowing him to participate; closing doors due to personal antipathy; criticizing others' efforts so they are disapproved; not showing up or showing indifference and annoyance in their activities; refusing to collaborate when they ask for help; helping only to try to show off yourself and overshadow him. Reflect: incorporate that brother, encourage him, and teach him. If you restore a brother, you strengthen the body of Christ.
Capítulo 10: ¿Cuántas veces, Señor, perdonarás? / Chapter 10: How Many Times, Lord, Will You Forgive?
¿Hasta dónde llega el perdón de Dios? Él nos ama con amor eterno y conoce nuestra fragilidad. Muchos creyentes viven bajo condenación, pero la parábola del Hijo Pródigo resalta la compasión del Padre. Dios no tiene límites humanos. Él sabe que somos polvo. Si fallaste, arrepiéntete y vuélvete en paz con Dios. Él te escogió sabiendo que le fallarías, y aun así te escogió. Él no está para condenarte sino para redimir tus pecados. ¡LEVÁNTATE Y RESPLANDECE!
How far does God's forgiveness go? He loves us with eternal love and knows our fragility. Many believers live under condemnation, but the parable of the Prodigal Son highlights the Father's compassion. God has no human limits. He knows that we are dust. If you failed, repent and return to peace with God. He chose you knowing you would fail Him, and yet He chose you. He is not there to condemn you but to redeem your sins. ARISE AND SHINE!
